5/11
Saturday involved a more than plentiful amount of rest. I took a trip to the bakery and marked today as the day it was finally happening. I was going to get my carrot cake.
For BREAKFAST.
And it was more than delicious. I savored it, making sure to capture every moment that you can now watch.... HERE. If you're into that kind of thing.
When I arrive home, I find Jason and 지훈 (Jihoon) helping two girls around my age move into room 12. I greeted them and realized they were from the US. One was from California and the other from Texas. Together the three of us made a perfect triangle (Cali, Texas, Minnesota). They would be visiting for a few days during the term break from the university in Singapore. I informed them that if they needed anything to just knock on my door...
Not that I'm home that often anyways.
I stop by the grocery store and find more konjac noodles.... FOR 900 원 (900 won | ~$0.75). I couldn't believe it... I bought like four packs. Along with everything I'd need for 콩국수 (kongguksu) or 쫄면 (jjeolmyeon) since I couldn't decide which I wanted more.
I settled for making both in the same bowl. Best decision ever. Maybe I'm crazy? But the cool soy milk broth with spicy 고추장 (gochujang | pepper sauce) is a perfect pairing.

Post my very late lunch, I decided my goal for the day would be to finally hunt down a jacket that matched my shorts. Its the new trend this spring, and I had gotten the shorts at a very, more than fair price. I'm assuming because the jacket had been missing to the two piece set. I knew the jackets were sold separate in most stores, so I figured I'd just find my own.
Turns out they're SO popular that I had to go through every single store in 이와 (Ihwa) just to find a store with only three left.
대박 ! (Dae bak | Jack pot)
I also managed to find a few more goodies. And a new purse. An elderly lady had a small store down the main alleyway of the shopping street. I haggled down the price of the purse with her, and was really delighted when I opted for the pink color. She told me pink is cute and suits me (And that was after I paid). I LOVE HER.
Walking back, I find myself in the middle of a 신촌 (Sinchon) street festival. A large stage is set up and the main street is closed down for ease of passing. People were everywhere and it wasn't easy to make my way through with all the bags I had. As I passed Starbucks, I see 지훈 waiting outside by the rail. I wave him down and we have a short chat about Saturday plans.
I came home, gave my new outfits a try, and felt greatly satisfied with the result.
My wallet felt differently.
I walked to work in my new fancy jacket, and had a wonderful tutoring session with 윤정 (Yunjeong). I walk home after work and make myself a bowl of noodles while watching reruns of the Fairly Odd Parents. Not a crazy eventful day but not too boring either.
And here's a vlog of my day: https://youtu.be/De6727YjsAA
