Adhering to my promise to visit the bakery once more to give some feedback to the worker and totally not to eat the carrot cake... I make my way to the other end of Sinchon near the 경의산 (Gyeongeesan) crossing. As I approach, it seemed that the cafe was in a bit of a disarray. The worker and delivery man informed me that the they were still suffering from electrical problems, and that they wouldn't be able to use the POS system for awhile but that I was welcome to wait until it was up and running. Unfortunately the wifi was down along with the rest of the electricity, so I wouldn't be able to get any computer work done... which I desperately needed to do. Even though they offered to let me use a mobile hotspot, I knew I'd need a more powerful connection and promised to return. But not the same day cause that's a fat walk. Probably the next day... probably.
So I cross the street to Starbucks to finally try the Choux Cream Crunch Latte that I'd been hesitant to try since day one. It SOUNDS amazing but it also sounds like amazing diabetes.
AND IT WAS. An iced latte topped with thick, vanilla bean cream and brown sugar crunch. It was nearly gone by the time I made it home.
I worked from home for awhile, updating my Youtube channel as well before growing antsy and opting to make a trip across town once more to see if the 9,900 원 (won) jean store was still surviving the competitive business structure of 홍대 (Hongdae). I swung by the ATM in the subway to see if it'd take my card... it did! Thank you NH bank I love you.
I pull out enough for some subway money (just in case) and for two pairs of jeans. I was pleasantly surprised that my trip wasn't all for not, and that the sale was still going strong. I found two pairs of jeans that I like. When it comes to Korean pants sizes, I'm never sure how they're going to fit. Most clothes are one size fits all, but occasionally bottoms will come in more than one size, ranging from units of Small, Medium, Large, to random numerical systems. Of course, the store offered a mix of these, but I still had no idea if I needed a small or extra small, a 260 or a 250. So I found a pair I liked in each and decided to hope for the best.
On my way home, I stop by brand market for more Sparkling Ade. I'm pretty sure the employees think I have an addiction. I probably do. They also carry a red wine under 5,000 원, so I picked that up for my 한강 (Han Gang | Han River) picnic plans with 민규 (Mingyu) on Friday.
I waddled my way on home with a giant bag full of bottles, praying that the quality of Korean plastic bags could hold against the weight. I gamble, stopping by Hyundai Department Store's second floor to grab a Mango Sago from Hui Lau Shan. I made friends with the kind little lady who worked there while I waited.
I return home and settle for watching a Netflix series that had recently popped up on my radar, The End of the F***ing World. I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it seeing as the title held a note of teen angst. The first episode itself is a bit unsettling, but unsettling in the way that it makes you wanting more.
And then you end up watching the entire series in one night.
In between I took breaks stopping by the convenient store for cup noodles, this time trying 쌀국수 컵누들 (ssalguksu cup noodle | Phở Cup Noodle). I wasn't sure if I'd like it, because every previous time I'd tried 쌀국수 in Seoul I had not enjoyed the experience (mostly because it was just a soupy bowl of broth and noodles since I don't often eat meat).
But this? WAS AMAZING. It was so flavorful and the texture of the noodles brought back memories of my childhood when my mom would make stove ramen. I loved it so much I walked all the way back to the 폔의점 (pyeoneejeom | convenient store) for cup #2.
Hey, I'd walked a lot that day.
I fell asleep later that evening, shortly after completing my binge of noodles and Netflix. Who needs Netflix and Chill when you have Netflix and Noodles?

Today's look btw, I call this one: "Jessica was too lazy to swap pajamas for real clothes so she put on more fashionable pajamas. |
